Hello David,
first of all, congratulations for your blog.
I have just started my nootropics journey. I have soaked up information all over Internet but it’s still not clear to me HOW SHOULD I CYCLE concrete stacks like this one. My daily stack consists of:
MORNING
– 650mg Lion’s Mane
– 1000mg fish oil
– 100mg Pine bark extract
– 500mg Bacopa Monnieri (20% bacosides)
– 200 mg Rhodiola Rosea 3% Rosavine 1% Salidroside
MID-AFTERNOON
– 650mg Lion’s Mane
– 100mg Pine Bark extract
AFTERNOON (OPTIONAL)
– 100mg Pine Bark extract
My dosage is based on the dosage recommendations found on your blog.
So, how should I cycle this? It seems that I could be taking Lion’s Mane uninterruptedly untill the day I die because its effects are cumulative but what about the others?
Would it be just enough with 3 months dosage/ 1 off? 1 month/2 weeks? Week/weekend?
I don’t have any problems like depression, brain damage or drug abuse and I just want to take nootropics as cognitive enhancers mostly because I have to deal with a lot of information each day. I’m just gonna stick to the natural ones.
I would appreciate your input. I trust you way more than any random guy on any internet forum.

Pablo, there is no need to cycle with the stack you have designed with your dosages and timing. You should find it will work better as time goes on and within 3 – 4 weeks you’ll be getting the full benefit of your stack.
But expect to progress to a “new normal”. In other words it may not ‘feel’ like anything. But your brain will be working better. And the only way you’ll know differently is if you stopped taking this stack abruptly. Then you’ll likely regress to your “old normal”.

Hello David,
Please add my name to your many appreciative readers. I have come to rely on your accumulated knowledge and wisdom concerning Nootropics.
After retirement as a medical instrument developer, I volunteered as a part-time caregiver for patients with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The obvious lack of any meaningful pharmaceuticals for neurological disorders has caused me to actively seek out natural treatments. Most of what is available, natural or chemical, seem to address memory-related symptoms rather than root causes.
I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts and suggestions for treating the causes of dementia. Thanks again for your sharing.

Hugh, do a search of this site for the keyword “dementia” and then for “Alzheimer’s”. You’ll get some fall-positives but I recall several nootropics have studies that showed they were effective in preventing dementia. Hello David
I experience no cognitive change or improvement at all when I supplement with either:
≤900mg of CDP Choline
300mg Alpha gpc
300mg cdp choline and 300mg Alpha GPC
500mg l tyrosine
500mg l tyrosine and 200mg green tea extract
This seems to be an unusual occurance. I don’t know anyone who has had a similar experience.
I tried to figure out why I didn’t respond to any of these combinations and realised that either
the substances in the nootropics are either being prevented from entering my brain somehow
Or
I am deficient in some of the enzymes that convert the nootropics into either ACH or Dopamine
Or
The nootropics are being metabolized into other substances elsewhere in the body before the can be metabolized into the intended neurotransmitters
Incase it turns out that the nootropics are being metabolized into unwanted substances Please provide me with as much as you can of the list below
1) The names of the enzymes that are probably metabolizing the nootropics
2) The names of any supplement or drug that inhibits or decreases these enzymes
If you aren’t aware of any of those the also:

Harvey, they’re likely not working for you because they need cofactors to produce acetylcholine and dopamine and all the other major neurotransmitters. Especially the B-Vitamins. But you also need a couple minerals to do the job as well.
