Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches Review: Nootropic Pouches for Focus, Energy, & Less Stress

Have you ever wished you could get the benefits from your nootropic stack without carrying supplement bottles around with you?

If you work from home, it’s not such an issue. But at your office or on the road every day means planning your noon-and-late-afternoon stack in advance.

Well, I’ve discovered a solution: Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches ReviewCyclone Pods Focus Pouches are small oral nootropic pouches that you place between your gum and cheek.

Each pouch contains 50 mg Caffeine (from guarana), along with 5 other nootropic and adaptogen ingredients, which I’ll share with you in a minute.

They contain no nicotine or tobacco.

Focus Pouches are designed to provide a portable source of energy and focus you can use almost anywhere. At your desk, on the road, before a gym workout, or during a meeting.

Imagine being able to avoid the daily run to Starbucks. Your Focus and energy supply is as close as your pocket or purse.

Cyclone Pods says most of their users keep a pouch in for 20–30 minutes; effects typically begin within 10–15 minutes, and energy and focus support can last 3–4 hours.

That makes Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches different from any pre-made nootropic stacks I have reviewed.

But are they a true nootropic stack? Or are they simply a caffeine pouch with a few adaptogens added?

That is what we are going to cover in this Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches review.

Who Founded Cyclone Pods?

Cyclone Pods was founded in 2018 in Santa Monica, California, by Conrad Kurth.

Conrad started Cyclone Pods after realizing how few options existed for those who wanted a disposable vape device without nicotine.

Nicotine-vape products dominated the market. So Cyclone Pods started as a 100% nicotine-free vape brand.

A couple of years later, Conrad, a nootropics user himself, noticed no one in the industry had yet created a nootropic delivery system like the tobacco pouches you get at your local 7-Eleven.

Conrad, following the success of his nicotine-free vapes, decided to create a nicotine-free, tobacco-free nootropic pouch alternative.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are a small cloth pouch you place in your mouth. But instead of nicotine and tobacco, it uses Caffeine (from guarana) stacked with several well-known nootropic ingredients.

What are Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches?

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are a nootropic stack, nicotine- and tobacco-free oral pouches designed to boost Focus, energy, and mental performance.

hand holding energy pouches caffeineYou place a pouch between your gum and cheek, leave it for around 20–30 minutes, then remove and discard the empty pouch.

During use, the pouch’s contents dissolve and are absorbed through the lining of your mouth and digestive tract — the pouch itself does not dissolve.

Each pouch contains:

Cyclone Pods currently offers four flavors: Cinnamon, Mint, Peach, and Wintergreen. Each can contains 20 pouches and sells for $9.99 (about 50 cents per pouch).

The company promotes Focus Pouches as an alternative to nicotine pouches, coffee, and energy drinks.

The key difference is delivery format.

Most nootropic supplements and pre-made nootropic stacks are sold as capsules or tablets in a bottle.

Energy drinks, of course, are available in recyclable cans or paper cups. Coffee requires brewing, or a trip to your local Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are pocket-sized, discreet, and do not require a glass of water to take.

This delivery system is useful if you want a controlled dose of Caffeine without swallowing capsules or drinking another coffee or energy drink.

And the nearly instant benefits from the other nootropic ingredients in this stack.

How Do Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches Work?

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches deliver Caffeine (from guarana), nootropic, and adaptogenic ingredients through a pouch you place between your gum and cheek.

energy pouches nicotine freeThis delivery method is key to how this pre-made nootropic stack works.

When you swallow a capsule, it passes through your digestive system. Most nootropic ingredients are broken down by stomach acid, your kidneys, or liver enzymes.

Poor absorption can often prevent the ingredients from ever reaching your bloodstream.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches use buccal (oral) absorption. The pouch sits between your gums and cheek, where Caffeine and other compounds enter circulation through the oral mucosa.[i]

The oral mucosa is a moist, living tissue lining the inside of your mouth, including your cheeks, lips, gums, and tongue.[ii] This lining acts as a protective barrier against bacteria, physical wear, and chemicals.

It also allows sensory perception, taste, and salivation. And it allows the perception of temperature, touch, pain, and taste.

The benefits of oral absorption are the main reason Cyclone Pods says users typically feel the effects within 10–15 minutes

How to use Cyclone Pods

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are easy and simple to use. Here’s how:

  • Place one pouch between your gum and cheek
  • Do not chew or swallow the pouch whole
  • Leave it in place for 20–30 minutes
  • Remove and discard the empty pouch after use
  • Use one pouch only once or twice per day until you know how you respond.

Because each pouch contains 50 mg of Caffeine (from guarana), it is equivalent to drinking half a cup of coffee. This is a far safer dose than many energy drinks, which often contain 100–300 mg of Caffeine per can.

One of the benefits of using these pouches is that you know exactly how much Caffeine you get with each pouch.

You can easily limit your caffeine dose. Unlike an energy drink, where you’re getting an instant hit of 200 mg of Caffeine.

And you are avoiding added sugar, artificial sweeteners, carbonation, tobacco, or nicotine.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches for Clean Energy Without Nicotine

A major benefit of using Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches is improved Focus and energy.

Each pouch contains 50 mg caffeine (from guarana).[iii] Caffeine is one of the most reliable and researched nootropics we have because it inhibits adenosine receptors in your brain.

Adenosine is released after the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in mitochondria. As more ATP is used for cellular energy during the day, more adenosine is released.

Adenosine attaches to adenosine receptors. This neurochemical signal makes you feel tired as more adenosine attaches to receptors throughout the day.[iv]

Caffeine prevents adenosine from binding to its receptors, which is why you feel more awake, alert, and motivated.[v]

Caffeine also influences dopamine, acetylcholine, epinephrine, and serotonin.[vi] This improves reaction time, vigilance, mood, and mental performance.

But dose matters because too much Caffeine can make you jittery, anxious, irritable, and eventually tired when it wears off.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches’ 50 mg dose is near perfect because it is enough for most people to feel it, but not so much that it makes you jittery from too much Caffeine.

Cyclone Pods specifically states that the pouches contain zero nicotine or tobacco. And they have a Certificate of Analysis (CofA) to back their claim.

energy pouches for runningCyclone Pods Focus Pouches for Portable Focus Support

A main advantage of using Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches is convenience.

You do not need water or coffee to brew, nor do you need to swallow capsules. And you do not need to carry a bottle of supplements or an energy drink.

You can keep a can in your car, laptop bag, gym bag, purse, or desk drawer.

That makes Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches useful for long work sessions, driving, meetings, or studying.

Focus Pouches are great for travel, as a pre-workout energy source, for afternoon focus, creative work, or early morning productivity.

A capsule-based nootropic stack may be better for a full daily brain optimization protocol. But Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are easier to use when you need something fast, portable, and discreet.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches for Stress and Mood Support

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches include Ashwagandha and Reishi Mushrooms, which are both well-known for stress support.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen, which means it helps keep your body in balance and supports its stress response.

A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial was conducted at Asha Hospital and the Ashwin Health Care and Research Center in Hyderabad, India, involving 64 adults aged 18 to 54 years.

Half the adults were given a placebo, and the other half received a high-potency, full-spectrum Ashwagandha extract 300 mg for 90 days.

The adults who used Ashwagandha extract experienced up to a 76.1% reduction in stress.

The researchers concluded “that high-concentration full-spectrum Ashwagandha root extract improves an individual’s resistance towards stress and thereby improves self-assessed quality of life. High-concentration full-spectrum Ashwagandha root extract can be used safely as an adaptogen in adults who are under stress.” [vii]

Reishi is a nootropic mushroom that has been used for over 2000 years in traditional Chinese Medicine.

This mushroom has traditionally been used for blood sugar regulation and as an antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, and antitumor agent.

As a nootropic, Reishi mushroom is primarily used for its anti-anxiety benefits. And for chronic fatigue syndrome.

Reishi is included in Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches® because it may help reduce the edginess from Caffeine that affects some people.

The adaptogens used in Focus Pouches may help smooth the stimulant effect, especially if you are using them during stressful work.

But this is also where dosage transparency matters. Cyclone Pods does not publish the individual amounts of Ashwagandha or Reishi in each pouch.

So it is difficult to compare the formula to the adaptogen dosages used in human clinical studies.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches for Memory and Cognitive Support

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches include Lion’s Mane Mushroom and Bacopa Monnieri, two well-known nootropics.

Lion’s Mane Mushroom is best known for supporting Nerve Growth Factor, neuroplasticity, memory, and long-term brain health.

Bacopa Monnieri is one of the most studied Ayurvedic nootropics for memory. It is traditionally used for improving learning, recall, attention, and processing speed.

A meta-analysis published in 2014, and conducted by researchers in the United States and Thailand, analyzed nine clinical studies that used Bacopa Monnieri with human subjects for longer than 12 weeks.

The analysis included 497 participants who used a standardized Bacopa Monnieri extract daily during the trial. The researchers concluded that daily, long-term use of Bacopa Monnieri extract could improve cognition and processing speed.[viii]

I think it’s worth pointing out that natural nootropics like Lion’s Mane and Bacopa Monnieri don’t provide immediate nootropic benefits.

Consistent daily use of this type of nootropic typically begins to provide benefits you can feel within 3 to 4 weeks.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches for Physical and Mental Stamina

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches also include Cordyceps, a nootropic mushroom traditionally used for stamina and endurance.

Human research suggests that Cordyceps may support exercise tolerance and oxygen utilization when used daily and over the long term.[ix]

This makes Cordyceps a logical ingredient in a Focus Pouch, especially if you are using it pre-workout, on long drives, or during high-output work sessions.

However, the dosage of Cordyceps is key: most studies point to a daily dose of 4 grams for at least 4 weeks.

It is worth pointing out at this stage of my review that smaller doses of nootropics in a nootropic stack often work in combination with the other ingredients to provide the benefits the formulator aims for.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches Ingredients

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches include 50 mg of Caffeine (from guarana), plus five nootropic and adaptogenic ingredients.

Guarana Caffeine 50 mg

Guaraná
By AnitaFortis – Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0

Guarana is a climbing plant native to the Amazon Basin and is best known for the seeds, which are about the size of a coffee bean.

Guarana beans are used locally as a stimulant because they contain about 6% caffeine. Note that coffee beans contain only 1 – 3 % caffeine.[x]

Caffeine (Guarana) is a proven nootropic because it improves alertness, vigilance, reaction time, attention, and mood. It works primarily by inhibiting adenosine receptors, which helps reduce fatigue.

Cyclone Pods use 50 mg of Caffeine per pouch. This is about half the Caffeine in a typical cup of coffee, depending on how strong you brew it.

This is a good dose if you want to focus without feeling overstimulated.

Lion’s Mane Mushroom

Lion’s Mane Mushroom is a nootropic mushroom known for promoting Nerve Growth Factor synthesis.[xi]

lions mane - energy pouches no nicotineBoosting Nerve Growth Factor and dendrites contributes to improved long-term memory and brain cell regeneration and repair.[xii]

Lion’s Mane has been called the “smart mushroom” for its ability to improve cognition, memory, and act as an antidepressant.

In 2010, the Department of Clinical Psychology at Kyoto Bunkyo University in Japan did a study with 30 women dealing with menopause. The women were complaining about depression and poor sleep quality.

The women were given Lion’s Mane-laced cookies or a placebo for 4 weeks.

The researchers found that Lion’s Mane “can reduce depression and anxiety, and these results suggest a different mechanism from the NGF-enhancing action of H. erinaceus“.[xiii]

bacopa-monnieri-best energy pouchesBacopa Monnieri

Bacopa Monnieri (Brahmi) is an ancient Ayurvedic herb used for thousands of years in Southeast Asia and India.

Bacopa Monnieri’s two active components are bacosides A and B. They improve the signaling of electrical impulses between neurons in your brain. Bacosides also help rebuild damaged neurons.

A clinical study conducted at Oregon State University in Portland, Oregon, involved 54 volunteers who received 300 mg of Bacopa Monnieri extract daily for 12 weeks. Study participants were, on average, 73 years old.

After the 12-week study, those using Bacopa Monnieri reported better word recall, improved attention, increased memory, greater ability to focus, reduced anxiety, and lower heart rate.[xiv]

Ashwagandha

withania-somnifera-Ashwagandha - energy pouchAshwagandha is one of the most powerful herbs in Ayurvedic Medicine. This traditional Indian home remedy has remarkable antidepressant qualities.

It has been shown to be as good as many prescription pharmaceuticals in treating depression and anxiety.

Ashwagandha enhances GABA receptor activity and regulates serotonin levels in your brain. It appears to act on neuronal receptors, enabling GABA to bind more readily. This inhibits the signals present under a stress response in the brain. Anxiety is reduced.

A study was conducted at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine with 75 volunteers with moderate to severe anxiety.

Ashwagandha produced a significant decrease in anxiety levels compared to the control group.[xv]

Reishi

The Reishi mushroom has been used for over 2,000 years in traditional Chinese Medicine.

reishi-mushroom-ontree-branch-energy pouches no nicotineAs a nootropic, Reishi is used for its anti-anxiety benefits and for chronic fatigue syndrome.[xvi]

A study at Mae Fah Luang University in Thailand recruited 50 volunteers suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Each was given Reishi mushroom extract or a placebo.

At the end of the study, those who used Reishi mushroom extract reported a significant improvement in quality of life compared to placebo, along with decreased fatigue.

The researchers concluded that “G. lucidum extract could be potentially effective in the treatment of fatigue and improve quality of life in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients.” [xvii]

Cordyceps

What pouches does Joe Rogan use-cordyceps-Cordyceps mushrooms have been used in traditional Chinese Medicine to treat fatigue, respiratory, and kidney disease.

As a nootropic mushroom, Cordyceps is used to support stamina, energy metabolism, exercise tolerance, and fatigue.

A study conducted at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found that Cordyceps mushrooms improve performance by increasing blood flow, boosting ATP synthesis for more natural energy, acting as an antioxidant, enhancing lactate clearance, increasing catecholamine release, and reducing oxidative stress and fatigue.[xviii]

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches  Recommended Dosage

Cyclone Pods recommends placing one Focus Pouch between your cheek and gum for 20–30 minutes.

Start with one pouch if you’ve never used this supplement before.

Each Focus Pouch contains 50 mg caffeine. Two pouches will provide 100 mg of Caffeine. Still a normal caffeine dose for many people, but it may be too much if you are sensitive to Caffeine.

Do not use Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches late in the day, as it could interfere with your sleep.

Reviews: Are Customers Happy with Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches?

Do focus pouches actually work?Customer reviews for Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are generally positive.

One user said that these were the best caffeine pouches on the market. The taste wasn’t synthetic, unlike some other brands. And they were a great value.

In general, several commented that the caffeine dose was perfect and did not cause the jitters common with energy drinks and strong coffee.

Another common theme among users was the quick energy boost, and the taste was acceptable.

The pouches are easy to use and easy to carry in a pocket or bag.

One recent user reviewer stated, “They really did take me out of the slump I was in and gave me energy for my 9-hour work shift“.

Most users reported that Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches effectively increased energy levels and focus for several hours.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches Pros & Cons

Pros

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are a nicotine- and tobacco-free alternative to nicotine pouches, liquid coffee, and energy drinks.

Each pouch provides a controlled 50 mg dose of Caffeine.

The pouch format is portable, discreet, and easy to use.

You do not need water, coffee, capsules, or an energy drink.

The formula includes several respected nootropic and adaptogen ingredients.

Cyclone Pods publishes 3rd party lab tests for each supplement batch.

The price is reasonable at $9.99 for 20 pouches, or about 50 cents per pouch.

Four flavors are available: Cinnamon, Mint, Peach, and Wintergreen.

Cons

Cyclone Pods does not disclose the individual amounts of Lion’s Mane, Bacopa Monnieri, Ashwagandha, Reishi, or Cordyceps.

Because the nootropic doses are not disclosed, we cannot compare the formula to the dosages used in the human clinical studies cited for these ingredients.

The product contains Caffeine, so it may cause jitters, anxiety, increased heart rate, or sleep problems in sensitive users.

Lion’s Mane Mushroom erinacines, which boost Nerve Growth Factor, are found only in the mycelium.[xix] Cyclone Pods does not indicate whether this mushroom includes both the fruiting body and the mycelium.

Cyclone Pods are not a complete daily nootropic stack.

What are Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches Missing?

The main thing missing from Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches is full transparency into ingredient doses.

CINNAMON-Cyclone Pods-energy PouchesThe company does not disclose how much Lion’s Mane, Bacopa Monnieri, Ashwagandha, Reishi, or Cordyceps is in each pouch.

This is important because each of these ingredients is dose-dependent.

Normally, I would be more concerned about lower or undisclosed ingredient doses in a nootropic stack. But Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are not swallowed like capsules.

You place the pouch between your gum and cheek, where the pouch’s contents dissolve and are absorbed through your oral mucosa and digestive tract, while the pouch itself stays intact.

Some active compounds can enter directly through the oral lining, with the rest absorbed during digestion. That is likely one reason users report feeling the product’s effects within 10–15 minutes.

I use Focus Pouches mostly for the afternoon energy slump that is common on heavy-workload days. And I find the pouches provide a nice, clean energy boost and Focus that lasts for the rest of the afternoon.

The flavors are good, with a nice mouthfeel with the pouch wedged between my gums and cheek.

The pouch itself does not dissolve — its contents are released into your mouth, and you discard the empty pouch after use, as with a nicotine pouch.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are also missing L-Theanine, which is often paired with Caffeine to smooth out jitters and improve calm Focus.

The pouches are also missing B vitamins and L-Tyrosine, which are common in energy and focus formulas because they support the synthesis of dopamine and norepinephrine.

That does not mean Cyclone Pods needs to include them in their formula. This product is built around a simple pouch format, not a complete nootropic stack.

But if Cyclone Pods ever releases a Focus Pouch “pro” version, I would like to see disclosed dosages and possibly L-Theanine added to the formula.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches Side Effects

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches should be well tolerated by most healthy adults when used as directed.

But they do contain Caffeine, and possible caffeine-related side effects include the jitters, anxiety, increased heart rate, irritability, poor sleep, headache, or nausea.

If you are caffeine-sensitive, start with one pouch earlier in the day.

Do not use Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches late in the afternoon or evening if Caffeine interferes with your sleep.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are not intended for children or women who are pregnant or nursing.

Are Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches Right for You?

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches may be a good fit if you want clean energy and a focus boost without needing to use coffee, nicotine, tobacco, sugar, or an energy drink.

They may be especially useful if you want to reduce or replace nicotine pouches, need a portable caffeine option, and do not want another cup of coffee.

Focus Pouches may also be useful if you want a discreet nootropic solution for work or travel, if you prefer not to swallow capsules, want a lower caffeine dose than most energy drinks, and like the idea of a nootropic pouch.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches may not be right for you if you are highly sensitive to Caffeine, want a fully disclosed clinical-dose nootropic stack, or need a caffeine-free focus supplement.

Experienced Neurohackers may see Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches more as a convenient focus tool than a complete nootropic stack.

And that is how I think they should be used.

Cyclone Pods are not trying to replace your carefully built daily nootropic stack. They are more of a portable focus pouch with Caffeine, adaptogens, and nootropic support.

How Much Do Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches Cost?

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches cost $9.99 per can.

Each can contains 20 pouches, which comes out to about 50 cents per pouch.

That makes Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches cheaper than most Starbucks drinks, most energy drinks, and many pre-workout supplements.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are available on their website and in some retail stores nationwide. The company also has an Amazon store.

Nootropics Expert® Recommendation – Sponsored post

Nootropics Expert Tested and ApprovedCyclone Pods Focus Pouches are among the more interesting pre-made nootropic stacks I have ever reviewed because the delivery format is the product.

The formula is simply 50 mg Caffeine (from guarana) with added Lion’s Mane, Bacopa Monnieri, Ashwagandha, Reishi, and Cordyceps.

The main benefit of this product is convenience.

You can use Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches anywhere. At your desk, while driving or traveling, before a workout, or during a long writing, editing, or study session.

The caffeine dose is reasonable, and I like that Cyclone Pods avoid using nicotine, tobacco, sugar, or other toxic additives.

I also like that Cyclone Pods publishes third-party lab testing. According to their product page, testing showed Caffeine at 113% of the label claim, with pesticides and residual solvents not detected, and heavy metals present only at trace levels.

That is the kind of transparency more supplement companies should provide.

My biggest complaint is that Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches do not disclose the individual doses of Lion’s Mane, bacopa, Ashwagandha, Reishi, and Cordyceps.

So I cannot honestly say this is a clinically dosed nootropic and adaptogen stack, or that most of the benefits come from the Caffeine in this product.

But Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are a smart and practical alternative if you want caffeine-based Focus without coffee, energy drinks, nicotine, or capsules.

If you are looking for a portable focus pouch that is nicotine-free, tobacco-free, sugar-free, lab-tested, and easy to use, Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are worth trying.

Do Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches Really Work?

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches should help increase energy and focus because each pouch contains 50 mg of Caffeine.

Caffeine is one of the most reliable nootropics available for improved alertness, reaction time, vigilance, and mental energy.

The pouch format may help it work faster than coffee or capsules because the Caffeine can be absorbed through the oral mucosa. Cyclone Pods says effects typically begin in 10–15 minutes and last 3–4 hours. And that has been my experience as well.

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are a portable caffeine pouch for clean energy and Focus. And these pouches may provide additional nootropic support if you use them consistently.

For 50 cents per pouch, no nicotine, no tobacco, no sugar, and published lab testing, Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are a useful product for anyone who wants a cleaner and more convenient way to reverse a mid-day energy slump.
