best nootropic stacks for 2024

In a hurry – click here to learn more about Mind Lab Pro®

What are you looking for in a nootropic stack to help you achieve your goals in 2024? That’s the question I asked of the Nootropics Expert® community. And this is what you said.

You were asking for specific nootropic stacks for cognitive issues including:

Experienced neurohackers will tell you that each of these cognitive issues can be helped with nootropic supplements. But there is no one-pill solution. It will take a stack of at least 4 – 5 nootropics to resolve each cognitive issue.

You can buy individual supplements and build your own stack from scratch to resolve each of these issues. Or you can do what tens of thousands have found to be equally effective but for a lot less money.

The best pre-made nootropic stack will save you money in 2024. And you’ll find you’ll use smaller doses of each ingredient. Because the right combination of supplements work in synergy for a more effective result.

I have personally tried dozens of different pre-made nootropic stacks over the last 17 years. Then in 2015 I was introduced to an UK-based supplement company called Mind Lab Pro®. It is by far the best pre-made nootropic stack I have used so far.

Mind Lab Pro®  is also a sister company to Performance Lab® which was launched in 2018. Their pre-made nootropic blend addresses each of the cognitive health issues listed above.

In this post I’ll give you a brief explanation for each pre-made nootropic stack the two companies produce including what makes each one unique. And why I think these supplements are the best options you’ll find anywhere in the world in 2024.

The Best Pre-Formulated Nootropic
Supplement Stacks to Buy in 2024

Mind Lab Pro®

Best nootropics - Mind-Lab-ProI’ve been using Mind Lab Pro® as the base for the supplement stack I use every day since late 2015. It has since become the market leader and one of the most widely used and respected pre-made nootropic stacks on the market today.

Mind Lab Pro® v4.0 is a great overall or ‘universal’ nootropic supplement with 11 premium ingredients that support 6 different cognitive pathways.

It covers all aspects of cognition in all types of people. Including athletes, professionals, students and seniors.

What Makes it Special

Most pre-made nootropic stacks on the market today take a narrow-minded approach. And target or support just one segment of cognition; focus, or memory, or energy. Ignoring the rest of your brain’s potential.

Mind Lab Pro® v4.0 on the other hand works as a whole-brain optimizer. Each of the 11 ingredients is a multi-tasker. Collectively boosting memory, processing speed and focus, mood balance and stress resistance, repair and maintenance for longevity.

And Mind Lab Pro® is the only pre-made nootropic supplement stack clinically proven to work and backed by peer-reviewed clinical studies. The first study was published in the Biomedical Journal of Scientific & Technical Research. And the second study conducted at the University of Leeds, UK was published in Human Psychopharmacology: Clinical and Experimental.

The Mind Lab Pro® box and bottle tell you exactly how much of each of the 11 ingredients is in each 2-capsule dose. You’re not left guessing what you’re using compared to other supplement manufacturers who hide behind “proprietary formulas”.

Only premium ingredients are used in Mind Lab Pro® v4.0. Including branded or patented nutrient forms, standardized herbs, and metabolically active, nature-identical vitamins.

Mind Lab Pro® v4.0 contains only pure ingredients with no additives or fillers. Delivered in 100% natural vegan NutriCaps® capsules. Other companies use gelatin capsules or HPMC veggie caps which may look natural. But are actually a form of semi-synthetic polymer made from wood pulp.

Why You Want It

Mind Lab Pro® v4.0 can do more with less because of the way each ingredient compliments the other ingredients in this stack.

The innovative stacking strategy used in designing Mind Lab Pro® v4.0 makes in my opinion the single best nutritional supplement for enhancing brain health and cognitive performance function available today.

Performance Lab® Energy

best nootropics - 2023 - Performance Lab EnergyI’ve been using Performance Lab® Energy as part of the supplement stack I use every day since it was released in early 2018.

Performance Lab® Energy is a unique nootropic energy supplement because it provides 6 key ingredients that help protect, restore, multiply and optimize energy production in mitochondria.

This supplement offers crash-free energy for your body and brain while building long-term health for longevity. A much better choice compared to other energy products that use caffeine. Which is just a short-term energy boost that inevitably results in a stimulant crash.

What Makes it Special

One of the easiest and first things we do for an energy boost is grab a coffee or energy drink.

But the caffeine in coffee or an energy drink that we associate with an energy boost is not truly a boost in energy at all. It’s simply a decrease in sleepiness.

Caffeine is an adenosine antagonist. Adenosine naturally increases during your day as a byproduct of mitochondrial energy production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Caffeine delays this process.

Performance Lab® Energy on the other hand goes right to the cellular energy source – your mitochondria.

Mitochondria within cells take nutrients from food, break them down, and produce ATP which is the fuel for all metabolic processes.

The problem is over time, mitochondria are damaged by free radicals. Causing them to malfunction and decline in number. It’s called mitochondrial dysfunction. And it leads to fatigue, depression, memory loss, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome and other problems.

The nootropic ingredients in Performance Lab® Energy support mitochondrial function and health. The result is stimulant-free, clean energy with no crash.

The company uses only premium ingredients in Performance Lab® Energy. Including branded or patented nutrient forms.

Performance Lab® Energy has only pure ingredients with no additives or fillers. Delivered in 100% natural vegan NutriCaps® capsules. Other companies use gelatin capsules or HPMC veggie caps which may look natural. But are actually a form of semi-synthetic polymer made from wood pulp.

Why You Want It

Performance Lab® Energy can provide the energy boost you need without the negatives associated with stimulant-based drinks and energy shots.

  • Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) – which donates acetyl groups to form Acetyl-CoA needed for the synthesis of acetylcholine, is required for the transport of long-chain fatty acids across mitochondrial membranes to fuel creation of ATP, and shuttles fatty acids out of mitochondria to flush out toxic byproducts from energy production
  • Coenzyme Q10 (as MicroActive® Q10) – which helps convert food into ATP energy, protects mitochondria from damaging free radicals naturally created during ATP energy generation, and increases mitochondria genesis
  • PQQ (as BioPQQ®) – which works in synergy with CoQ10 to improve the function of existing mitochondria in your cells, promotes the growth of new mitochondria, and boosts nerve growth factor (NGF) needed for new neurons
  • R-Lipoic Acid (as Bio-Enhanced® Na-RALA) – which activates choline acetyltransferase and increases glucose uptake for synthesis of acetylcholine, regenerates existing antioxidants like Vitamins C & E, glutathione and CoQ10, reduces inflammation, gets rid of heavy metals, and increases insulin sensitivity
  • Piperine (as BioPerine®) – black pepper extract which improves the absorption of the other ingredients in this energy stack
  • Magnesium – required for ATP energy production in mitochondria, synthesis of DNA and RNA, and regulating ion channels and synaptic plasticity for learning and memory

The innovative stacking strategy used in designing Performance Lab® Energy makes this the single best nutritional supplement for boosting energy available today.

Admittedly, you will not feel the kind of energy surge that you normally associate with an energy drink. You can check out the next pre-made stack in this list for that. But by using this energy nootropic stack daily, you’ll find you won’t need to reach for an energy shot either.

Because you’ll have ample energy all day long and avoid afternoon fatigue. Performance Lab® Energy is stimulant-free, clean energy with no crash.

Performance Lab® Caffeine 2

Performance Lab Caffeine 2I reach for a capsule of Performance Lab® Caffeine 2 whenever I need an extra temporary energy boost. And find I prefer it over the lift I get from a cup of coffee or energy drink.

Neurohackers noticed years ago that if you added L-Theanine to caffeine it produced a more balanced stimulant effect.

You get the cognitive benefits of caffeine with the calming effects of L-Theanine.

The problem with this stimulant solution is it’s not complete. And some of the side effects of caffeine as a nootropic are still evident.

Performance Lab® saw an opportunity and redesigned this most basic of stimulant nootropic stacks in 2019. It’s since become a bestseller in the neurohacker community.

This is the most advanced caffeine + L-Theanine formula around. A stimulant stack that works.

What Makes it Special

Neurohackers know that caffeine on its own is an effective nootropic. It’s an adenosine antagonist which prevents us from getting sleepy.

But this action also influences acetylcholine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, serotonin and boosts the use of dopamine. Which provides the stimulant effect and helps avoid brain fog when you need it most.

Regular use of caffeine depletes these critical neurotransmitters, stimulates your adrenal glands to produce more cortisol, raises blood pressure, and its diuretic effect causes you to lose water-soluble B-Vitamins that your brain needs.

Performance Lab® recognized that to get all the benefits caffeine has to offer as a nootropic, a stack needed to be designed to counterbalance these negatives.

The result is the purest and cleanest stimulant stack on the marketPerformance Lab® Caffeine 2.

Why You Want It

Performance Lab® Caffeine 2 provides a short-term, clean energy boost. Without the negatives you normally associate with regular caffeine or energy drink use.

  • Natural caffeine (from Coffea Robusta seeds) – acts by blocking adenosine receptor subtypes A1 and A2A which in turn increases wakefulness. Instead of becoming sleepy, you are more alert. This action on adenosine also influences acetylcholine, epinephrine, serotonin and boosts the use of dopamine which also provides a stimulant effect
  • L-Theanine  – increases Alpha brain waves which provides an alert calming effect. It boosts the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine and GABA and counters the negatives associated with caffeine. And helps relieve the stress of excess cortisol caused by caffeine.
  • L-Tyrosine – replaces the catecholamines dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine that were impacted by caffeine use. Resulting in better working memory, quicker thinking even under pressure, a boost in multitasking performance, stress resistance and no crash.
  • NutriGenesis® B-Complex – counterbalances the vitamin depletion caused by the diuretic effect of caffeine by including bioidentical NutriGenesis® Vitamins B2, B6, B9 and B12.

The innovative formulation used in designing Performance Lab® Caffeine 2  makes this the best stimulant nootropic stack on the market today.

You’ll feel the boost of pure, clean energy right when you need it. And you’ll find you won’t need to reach for an energy shot or cup of strong coffee.

Performance Lab® Mind

best premade nootropic stack for mental clarityIf I wasn’t using Mind Lab Pro® v4.0, then this would be my next choice for a mental performance and cognitive energy enhancer.

Performance Lab® Mind is a unique nootropic stack with only four premium perfectly dosed ingredients.

It’s designed to support focus, mental processing speed, cognition while you’re under stress, multitasking, motivation, memory and cognitive recovery.

What Makes it Special

The nootropic ingredients in the Performance Lab® Mind stack have been clinically shown to support brain energy metabolism, cerebral blood circulation, brain cell regeneration, neurotransmitter synthesis and signaling, and long-term cognitive health.

  • Memory – using Citicoline (as Cognizin®) which donates choline to phosphatidyl, forming phosphatidylcholine (PC) used to build brain cell membranes and synapses. And it increases levels of acetylcholine, and supports cerebral blood circulation for learning, attention and memory
  • Mental processing speed – using Phosphatidylserine (as Sharp PS® Green) which promotes neurogenesis, neuroplasticity, neuron repair and maintenance, and brain cell signaling. Supporting processing speed, problem-solving, focus, concentration and verbal fluidity
  • Multitasking – using L-Tyrosine (as Ajipure®) which is a precursor to the synthesis and replenishment of dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine. Helping reverse the negative consequences of stress on cognition, and promoting sharp mental focus under pressure
  • Cerebral circulation – using Pine Bark Extract which helps release nitric oxide for relaxing blood vessels for better blood flow. Promoting more efficient delivery of nutrients, glucose and oxygen needed for brain energy and metabolism. More mental energy and better long-term brain health

Performance Lab® uses only premium ingredients in Performance Lab® Mind. Including branded or patented nutrient forms, and standardized herbs.

Performance Lab® Mind has only pure and patented ingredients with no additives or fillers. Delivered in 100% natural vegan NutriCaps® capsules. Other companies use gelatin capsules or HPMC veggie caps which may look natural. But are actually a form of semi-synthetic polymer.

Why You Want It

The innovative stacking strategy used in designing Performance Lab® Mind makes this an excellent but less pricey option to Mind Lab Pro®.

But to experience the full benefit of this nootropic stack, Performance Lab® Mind should be used with a quality multivitamin. Because certain vitamins and minerals are required for the synthesis of neurotransmitters and are required nutrients for producing ATP energy for brain cells.

I prefer the Performance Lab® NutriGenesis Multi because it’s more potent, it’s biologically active and I’ve found it to be a far more effective multi compared to every other multivitamin supplement I’ve ever used.

Performance Lab® uses their own priority NutriGenesis® vitamins and minerals which are grown on probiotic, plant and yeast cultures in a state-of-the-art lab.

Conclusion

best 2024 pre-made nootropic stackAnd there’s my Best Pre-Made Nootropics Stacks for 2024.

Natural nootropics have seen explosive growth as a market sector in 2024. I have at least a dozen different stacks in a desk drawer as I write this. For manufacturers asking for reviews (which I began in 2018 and will continue to review in 2024).

Do a search for “best pre-formulated nootropic stacks” and you’ll come across brands that didn’t even exist a year ago.

Mind Lab Pro® v4.0 has a respectable track record and has set a new bar that other supplement manufacturers are still trying to match. The company who makes MLP has been designing and producing the highest quality, purest supplements for years.

The nootropic stacks I’ve covered in this post for 2024 are very effective for healthy brain function and health. And are generally safe to use for most people. Even for long-term use.

One thing I have noticed is the trend away from prescription smart drugs and synthetic brain enhancers to more natural herbs and compounds. Especially after recovering from this world-wide pandemic. Which is a good thing in my opinion. A natural nootropic are easier on your system than prescription smart drugs and they nearly always work better.

And my experience with Mind Lab Pro® v4.0 and the Performance Lab® stacks is proof these supplements can be used as the base for more complex potent nootropic stacks for healthy cognitive function. Depending on your needs and the health issues you are facing this year.

As the author of Nootropics Expert®, I’ve had the opportunity to try and test many pre-made nootropic stacks. But I keep coming back to the favorites I’ve reviewed in this post.

Try them and let me know what you think in the comments section below.

I have been experimenting with some nootropics but I wanted something less expensive and these seem great! I can’t take NALT or Tyrosine because of problems with thyroid function but for PTSD and ASD would the Energy stack (Bio-PQQ…) work wellness? Maybe in combo with PS for neurogenesis or Carnosine? Thank you!!

    David Tomen
    January 4, 2021

Nicoletta, I’m a severely hypothyroid and use about 2,000 mg L0-Tyrosine every day. I’m curious why you are avoiding L-Tyrosine since it’s an integral part of the make-up of thyroid hormone.

What is it that you are trying to do? It’s difficult for me to make suggestions when I don’t know what your goal is. If it’s more energy and stamina then the Performance Lab Energy supplement is a great choice.

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a great choice for neurogenesis. So is anything that boosts Nerve Growth Factor and/or Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). Lion’s Mane Mushroom is one of my favorites. And here’s 13 nootropics that boost BDNF: https://nootropicsexpert.com/13-nootropics-to-boost-bdnf/

i’m taking currently mind lab pro
panax ginseng from Now Maca root from Now
Calcium D glucarate
DIM
multivitamins and electrolyte powder but still have chronic fatigue, brain fog ,anxiety and depression?????.

i did all blood analysis
FSH is very low they wanted to give me hormones replacement and i refused
cortisol high
ACTH high
sperm acount is low
do you have any idea how to fix FSH??? i did MRI brain is ok???
what do suggest for me Mr.David Tomen with all apreciation and regard.

    David Tomen
    December 17, 2020

Tamer, it would help if you knew what the cause was first. Otherwise you’re putting a bandaid on something that needs to be fixed and it’s temporary.

Let’s start is low FSH. Low FSH can be caused by stress, anorexia, hypothyroidism, high prolactin, eating large amounts of soy protein, alcohol abuse or meningitis.

You can temporarily increase FSH with Ginseng or Maca.

You can also help your adrenals and lower cortisol with L-Theanine. As for low sperm count, see all of the above.

If none of that works then you need hormone replacement therapy. This used to depend on age. Older folk need to replace hormones. But that is true now for people in their 20’s and 30’s as well for all kinds of reasons.

I wrote an article based on a ton of research into the brain fog which you’ll find here: https://nootropicsexpert.com/best-supplements-for-brain-fog/. I’ve found that if you take care of each category addressed in that article things like anxiety and depression magically go away too.

But the thing is you can try every nootropic supplement I’ve reviewed so far. And if your sex hormones are low they will not provide the benefit you’re looking for.

Hi David

Question regarding
Mind Lab Pro®

1) Someone gets Brain Cancer
2) Operation removes the bulk of the cancer,
3) Then the patient I received radiation treatment
4) Then on chemotherapy

QUESTION:
is it OK for the patient to take
Mind Lab Pro® during the post operation recovery period ?

What is your view ?

Thanks
John

    David Tomen
    July 26, 2020

John, that’s one question I cannot answer because I’m not qualified to do so. But if it was me, you can be sure that I’d be using Mind Lab Pro.

      John
      July 27, 2020

      Thanks David

      Another question:

      Q1:
Why are there two different products :
      — Mind Lab Pro
      and
      — Mind

      Q2:
      what’s the difference ?

      Thanks 🙂

        David Tomen
        July 27, 2020

John, they are both made by Opti Nutra but Mind was made to be used with the Performance Lab NutriGenesis Multi. And Mind Lab Pro was designed to be used on its own. BTW, it’s two separate companies under the Opti Nutra umbrella.

        John
        July 27, 2020

Which of the two is the “best” one — i.e. the one that offers the most benefits ??

        David Tomen
        July 28, 2020

John, for an overall cognitive enhancer it’s definitely Mind Lab Pro. If you combine that with Performance Lab Energy it’s even better.

        Hi David:

I am leaning towards MLP as well 🙂 — but am interested to see what you think of “Matter”

Here are the links with the additional info you couldn’t find:

        INGREDIENTS:

WHY YOU SHOULD SWITCH TO “MATTER”:

        What do you think ?

        David Tomen
        July 31, 2020

John, the ingredients list says it all. They’re using synthetic Vitamin B9 folic acid instead of the food-grade folate. And Vitamin B12 cyanocobalamin instead of methylcobalamin. They do not state where the get their Omega-3s from and the EPA and DHA dosage is so low as to be useless.

Their headline should read: WHY YOU SHOULD NOT SWITCH TO “MATTER”. Because their product really doesn’t matter.

Good morning Davd (depending on were you are of course)

I am relativley new to the world of nootropics. Over the last few monts i have been stacking piracetam, aniracetam, Phenylpiracetam (cycleing 1 week on and 1 week off) so i do not build up a tolerance) and in adition to thoes stand alone nootropics i have also taken mind lab pro (2 pills) and a product that you have not reviewed yet (wich is called nitrovit) i’ll give you the link below after the comment. I watch your videos wich are very informative, you have a lot of knolage when it comes to nootropics (clearley you have done a lot of research) with saying that David i have a couple of questions

question #1: since i use both nitrovit and mind lab pro (virtualy the same ingreadients (almost the same) is it ok to take 2 pills of nitrovite and 2 pills of mind lab pro? would that be to much of a dosage and becom inefective?

question # 2: i have also been doing a lot of research on the following stand alone nootropics wich i also take wich are piracetam, aniracetam, Phenylpiracetam is it ok to stck these 3 together combined with the nitrovit and mind lab pro?

question # I cycle 3 of the stacks wich are nitrovite (monday to friday/saturday and sunday off) mind lab pro (monday to friday/saturday and sunday off/) Phenylpiracetam (1 week on monday to sunday/one week off) piracetam, aniracetam (no cycleing i take these every day with the specified dosage) is this the correct cycleing period for the above mentioned nootropics?

If you have not seen the product nitrovit and there ingreedients please review the following below link i have included and tell me what you think.

Thank-you David;

Havea great day!

    David Tomen
    June 27, 2020

Che, sounds like you have the cycling right as long as it works for you. But keep in mind that each of the racetams has a big influence on acetylcholine. And you’ll get the most benefit from them by stacking whichever one you’re using with Alpha GPC or CDP-Choline.

And if Mind Lab Pro and Nitrovit have similar formulas I’d use one in the morning and the other at noon. Then you’ll get all-day benefits from using both of them.

    June 25, 2020

James, I’m Adult ADD and have been using the stack described in this post: https://nootropicsexpert.com/best-nootropics-for-adhd-add/ for around 12 years. Tens of thousands of others who are ADD or ADHD are using this protocol as well. It works with or without prescription stimulants. And it’ll “hold you down and help you focus” whether you get diagnosed. Or not.

Hi. I ordered PL whole multi and there is no potassium in the mix. Being that it is such a critical mineral the body needs daily in high doses, what’s your recommendation if any?

    David Tomen
    January 9, 2020

Sara, probably potassium chloride because it is used to treat low potassium levels. Potassium citrate on the other hand is used to treat kidney stones.

Robert
March 2, 2019

I ordered PL Energy,WholeFood,T booster and Mind Lab Pro.
What nootropics would be the best to stack with these three together?
I have aniracetam,b-complex,sulbutiamine,vinpocetine,nalt,alcar,dha,alpha gpc and planning to buy noopept,Phenylpiracetam, and Magtein Magnesium L-Threonate in nootropic depot. I’m experimenting as of now but I think it is best to have your opinion about these because personally I think my stack is all over the place. I also have existing whole food but it is tablets I think it doesnt efficiently absorbed in my body huge mistake so I want to use performance lab starting now.

    David Tomen
    March 3, 2019

Robert, you can use everything in that stack as long as you are following dosage recommendations for each.

The only one I would caution you about is Phenylpiracetam. I’d leave that out for now until you find out how the rest of your stack works. And how it makes you feel. Then introduce the racetam so you can judge whether it’s for you or not.

January 25, 2019

I have been waiting for some kind of app that takes all of your vitamin, supplement and prescriptive drugs info., then tells you what to take when and with what…
Is this something that is out there, or am I dreaming?

Thank you!
Keri

    David Tomen
    January 25, 2019

Keri, there is no app like what you’re describing that I’m aware of. The thing is it would be reaaallllly expensive to develop. And no good way to monetize it to pay for development. So don’t hold your breath! 🙂
